Grooming Tips From The Diary Of A Fashionable Guy
Grooming is a very personal undertaking so we thought it would be great if we got a first hand view from Es Mode devotee, Andrea Platania. Andrea was gracious enough to answer a few other personal questions that we threw in for good measure.
EsM: Hello Andrea, we are impressed by your personal style and savoir-faire so we are pleased that you have agreed to speak to us about your grooming routine and broader interests.
AP: It is my pleasure to share my grooming tips with Es Mode.
EsM: You were born in Catania, Sicily, where do you currently reside?
AP: My primary residence is London but I have a holiday home in Lisbon.
EsM: What is your profession?
AP: I am a practicing Attorney working in the Financial Sector.
EsM: Andrea, could you please give us a peek into your grooming routine?
AP: My pleasure. It may sound like a cliché but beauty does start from within. I drink five litres of water daily along with macha green tea, which is full of antioxidants.
I also take silica in liquid form (diluted in water), it’s very good for silicon formation in your skin. Liquid silica also makes a great mask for the face. When applied for 15 minutes it makes the skin look much tighter and healthier.
EsM: Impressive! Now that we have covered the internal beauty regimen can you please tell us what approach you do take to enhance your external beauty?
AP: Shaving is my form of “morning meditation”. I use Mamma TT Organics shaving cream. It is truly an amazing product, having a blend of essential oils, Shea butter and lavender. It is free of chemicals and leaves the skin supple and clean. It makes shaving in the mornings just a pleasurably way to start your day. Tiziana Troina, founder of Mamma TT Organics has developed an amazing selection of organic products. I greatly recommend them all.
After shaving I apply Clarins Camomille Tonique as it is really great at soothing your skin. Next I apply Clarins Super Lift eye cream (Multi-Regenerant Contour des Yeux), which is the best eye product ever. I have been using it for three years and I still have no wrinkles.
EsM: What is your cologne of choice?
AP: I use Gris Dior and Bois D’Argent, both by Christian Dior.
EsM: What are your interests outside of work?
AP: Learning languages (I speak six at the moment); socializing by going out three to four days a week; reading in different languages and above all travelling and spending time with my two dogs, Pandora and Batista.
I am also super passionate about Interior Design.
EsM: Wow, we are going old school Greek here with all these varied interests but speaking of travelling, what is your favorite destination?
AP: I find it challenging to name a favorite destination because there are so many beautiful places and cultures to discover. I love Lisbon, Mykonos, Rio de Janeiro, Marrakech and of course Sicily. That said, I have to say that I have a very strong connection to Africa, particularly Tanzania, Namibia and Botswana.
EsM: Got it. Now we understand why you added Portuguese and Greek to your list of acquired languages along with your current pursuit of French. We thought German would be one of the languages on the “to do” list.
AP: Ha-ha, Italians are unpredictable.
EsM: Andrea, thank you so much for giving us a glimpse into your daily grooming ritual and your varied passions. We would also like to commend you on your strong commitment to doing charitable work. Hopefully we can profile that aspect of your life at another time.
AP: You are most welcome. It was my pleasure answering your questions.
